    The Holy Resurrection Church in the village of Mborje is a precious stone for the cultural heritage of Korça and Albania. It dates from 1389 and is considered one of the oldest religious monuments in the Balkans. Its frescoes were made by anonymous painters in 1390. The Holy Resurrection Church is dedicated to Saint Mary, that’s why it is known as a holy place that helps people.  On the day that Christ completes 40 days from the resurrection, the church is visited by thousands of Orthodox believers. It has been restored three times. ) The church’s original tiles from the Byzantine period (55x33x3cm) were found in the first phase (in November 2014). They were reused and the architecture and typology of the church became even clearer for the local and foreign visitors. Another important element that distinguishes today the Holy Resurrection Church is the bell tower; it is positioned outside it in a wooden construction. If we go back in time, thanks to old photos, the Holy Resurrection Church didn’t have such a bell tower. The church is only 7.5 meters high.
